History to the Shore
PROJECT
A prototype for community placemaking
This item combined design and management skills to work towards a creative project to be considered for development by Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) for a new sub-site within the Northshore development zone in effort to foster placemaking for a new neightbourhood of Brisbane.
The final prototyped product was the refurbishment of a heritage building situated on site into an interactive history museum. The project focused on the specific history of the location, incorporating aspects of digital engagement such as virtual reality and artistic design of information. Creating a community identity and a transformable space centralised around story telling.
The design process was guided and produced in response to a specific client brief to develop ideas for a new this new (and not yet established) community. This component was a sepcific deliverable request for a prototype. I had to lead with collaborative and engaging approaches for design and teamwork, effectively communicating and problem solving as we ideated together. Furthermore, my background in architecture, community design, and visual design was an asset to a tight reconfiguration to meet the client's developing needs.
My research skills were integral to the development of the project; incorporating budding community needs and concepts. Understanding what government, local business' and people would value in their emerging community.
